What a spectacular day we had in Year 3 on Tuesday! The classroom was transformed into a land of ancient legends as we welcomed the brilliant storyteller, Matthew Bellwood, for a special workshop all about the epic hero, Lemminkäinen.

The children didn’t just listen to the story—they lived it! We kicked off the morning by learning traditional songs. The room was filled with rhythmic chanting and singing as we used our voices to set the scene of the snowy North. It was the perfect way to get into character! Matthew then led the children in acting out the key moments of Lemminkäinen’s journey. The highlight of the afternoon was definitely our shadow puppet theater. Using light, screens, and carefully cut-out silhouettes, the children re-told the story of Lemminkäinen. The children worked in small groups to narrate their scenes, showing fantastic teamwork and creative flair.
